Finding One or More Terms

To find one or more terms, type it or them in the search box.

Example:
crm
finds results that contain the word "crm"

network LAN
finds results that contain the word "network" OR the word "LAN"

To find a phrase, or terms adjacent to each other, enclose them in quotes in the search box.

Example:
"business intelligence"
finds results that contain the phrase "business intelligence"

NOTE: If you search for business intelligence without the quotes, you get results that contain "business" OR "intelligence"

Requiring Words

To require terms to be included in search results, type a plus sign (+) before them.

Example:
+storage +servers
finds results that contain both "storage" AND "servers"

Excluding Words

To exclude terms from search results, type a minus sign (-) before them.

Example:
"LAN switching" -token-ring
finds results that contain the phrase "LAN switching" but NOT the word "token-ring"

To search both singular and plural versions of a term, type them both in the search box.

Example:
portal portals
finds results that contain the term "portal" or the term "portals"

Case

Search terms in lower case match words in any case. However, if you use upper case, an exact match is searched.

Example:
crm
finds results that contain the words "crm" or "CRM"

CRM
finds results that contain the word "CRM" (not crm)

When you do a search, the results display under different categories, under these following tabs.

To switch between the catagories of results, simply click on the appropriate tab.

Vendor Papers - includes documents such as White Papers, Case Studies, Standards, etc., written by Hardware and Software Vendors, and Service Providers Consulting Groups.

Analyst Research - includes documents, such as reports and briefs, written by IT Analyst Groups.

All Documents - includes all the research documents in the database. It is a combination of the documents under both the Vendor Papers and Analyst Research tabs and includes Standards.

Products - includes a list of products related to the topic that you have searched. Topics - includes a list of topics that match the one that you searched. The topics listed are linked to documents cataloged to the topic, provding a precise list of results.

Companies - includes all companies who have published documents on the topic that you have searched.

"Search Within" allows you to narrow you search, to give you fewer, more precise results, by adding a term to the search you just executed.

To use this feature, do a search on a term or phrase. When the search results display select "Search Within" to search only the results from your previous search.
