ABSTRACT:
Today?s business environment requires that infrastructure technology is optimized and running seamlessly. Business has become dependent on IT as a primary service resource. Service level agreements are placing tighter controls on the service providers. Servers must have high availability. Downtime means lost income or increased expense including reduced productivity. To optimize productivity, applications must be easy to use and always available when needed.
Due to the economic downturn, the IT professional must address all of these issues with a reduced budget and shrinking staff levels. The days of the 1-2 year return on investment are a thing of the past. Results must be accountable within the current budget cycle. The Chief Technology Officer must find better ways to meet the needs of the business within these parameters.
