Silhouette offers many benefits, including its ability to:
- Runs against the digital description of a column without requiring access to the data
- Allow users to identify if specific data exists in a source and its location within that source
- Query multiple disparate data sources concurrently without having physical access to the data
- Run query applications on small devices (i.e., PDAs or cell phones) because the digital signature is drastically smaller that the data itself
- Push automatic notification to a predefined target with high-speed, large volume processing technology
