ABSTRACT:
Identity management is a broad administrative area that deals with identifying individuals in the system and controlling their access to resources within that system by associating user rights and restrictions with the established identity. In a computerized network, identity management software is used to automate administrative tasks, such as resetting user passwords as well as to provide a mechanism for IT staff to easily grant and revoke system and application access. By providing a secured method for users to manage their own passwords and authenticate to distributed systems, single sign-on through Trusted Space authenticates a user to access all the applications they have been given the rights to on the server, and eliminates future authentication prompts when switching between applications during that particular session. By enabling single sign-on through strong authentication, there is a reduction in frustration caused by lost or forgotten passwords. The system also can allow for individuals to reset their own passwords if needed after biometrically confirming their identity. The Trusted Space solution can save significant money and resources, since a large percentage of help desk calls are password-related.
