ABSTRACT:
Garbage may not be a glamorous subject, but it's as critical to Corporate America as it is to the environment. With trash levels rising and the number of landfills steadily declining, there are significant financial benefits to be gained by organizations that are doing things right in waste management. Big opportunities come from the biodegradable waste category that can quantifiably reduce costs, increase operating efficiencies and help the environment.
That's the focus of "Garbage Is a Terrible Thing to Waste," a comprehensive report from the BPM Forum and Global Renewable Energy and Environmental Network (GREEN). But the report also shows that while most people are cognizant of the benefits of properly managing waste, there's little urgency to take action. That's where the disconnect lies-as well as the opportunities.
