ABSTRACT:
At the hub of SBS' London operation is the initial installation of a DataDirect Networks S2A storage system, configured in a mirrored 240TB set (480TB total). The S2A systems use high-density 48-slot SATA drive enclosures, enabling the entire system to fit into just two data center racks, with room to double capacity by adding disks to the existing disk enclosures. Each S2A storage controller utilizes DataDirect Networks' SATAssure intelligent SATA drive management system. SATAssure makes large pools of SATA drives reliable, increases their uptime, and ensures their data integrity. In SBS Broadcasting's active archive system, SATAssure was a key enabler since it allowed the use of lower cost, larger capacity drives without concern for data availability.
