- Shift the focus from protecting the network perimeter to protecting information, wherever it resides
- Use mutual strong authentication between users and the network
- Keep employee antivirus, firewall, and operating systems up to date
- Install host-based intrusion prevention software on employees' laptops
- Disable Ad Hoc mode on wireless devices
- Turn off Windows file and printer sharing on laptops
