As competition in the consumer and corporate markets continues to intensify, leading players in both these sectors are seeking new, more effective methods to deliver their goods and services on-demand via the Internet.
The on-demand, SaaS movement is fundamentally changing the software industry. It is forcing established players to re-architect their applications, restructure their revenue and sales models, and reshape their corporate cultures and operating procedures. It is also putting pressure on new SaaS players to create clearly differentiated on-demand solutions. In both cases, the established ISVs and emerging SaaS players must focus on their core businesses in order to survive and succeed.
Yet, whether they are aiming at the B2B or B2C sectors, the ISVs and SaaS players must ensure the reliability and optimal performance of their on-demand applications. Latency or service outages can adversely impact customer satisfaction, significantly undercut customer loyalty and severely harm the SaaS vendor's long-term reputation.
