ABSTRACT:
This paper provides users of medium-scale, enterprise-class systems running Windows Server and Microsoft SQL Server with the best practices for effectively configuring and productively deploying SAP NetWeaver with SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), using a Sales and Distribution (SD) workload, onto an HP ProLiant server and a storage area network (SAN) infrastructure.
This paper addresses the following fundamental deployment and operational issues:
- Optimal server selection, specifically addressing the appropriate sizes and configurations for the servers
- Optimal deployment of the various components of the SAP system (Central Instance (CI), dialog instances, and database) on the servers
- Appropriate configuration for the HP Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) disk array, including the optimal number, size, configuration and RAID-level of the EVA disk groups for both the SAP application components and the database
