ABSTRACT:
According to analysts at Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), 36% of all enterprises indicate they will incur significant revenue loss or other adverse business impact if they have even an hour or less of downtime on their mission critical applications. Virtually any amount of downtime can mean lost productivity, lost revenue, lost customers and lost opportunity. This paper describes how one vendor is addressing this growing concern through building a highly available, disaster tolerant multi-data center environment to test and demonstrate its availability and recoverability solutions. Rather than just simulate a disaster, they actually created one that rendered the primary site immediately useless in order to show the effectiveness of their solutions at failing over to the secondary site in just seconds. This paper outlines the test environment and provides analyst views.
