ABSTRACT:
Brocade® FileAges is a utility that helps you classify files based on their creation, modification, or access dates. You can quickly generate a report that will help you identify inactive and low-value data. Based on your assessment, you can then take steps to move less-important data from your primary storage to more cost-effective secondary storage. As a result, you can significantly shorten your backup times and reduce your storage costs.
This guide describes how you can use the FileAges utility in conjunction with innovative solutions such as Brocade File Lifecycle Manager® (FLM) and Brocade StorageX® to simplify file management and maximize the value of your storage and administrative resources as part of a strategic File Area Network (FAN).
