ABSTRACT:
On-demand software, or hosted service software, delivered by application service providers (ASPs), is a growing trend. In certain areas of enterprise software, such as CRM (customer relationship management) and ERP (enterprise resource planning), there have been notable successes like Salesforce.com and NetSuite. On-demand software usually has a low-cost entry point, fast implementation, low support burden, and often, easier web-based access along with simplified operation, albeit at the cost of deeper functionality.
BPM software is now available as a hosted service, with products that have matured to deliver strong functionality sufficient for many companies. Users have a choice between buy and "rent" now that the on-demand approach is a viable alternative.
