ABSTRACT:

Continuous Application Protection (CAP) is technology that protects all components of an application environment (not just the data), including the operating system, the application binaries, registry settings, domain settings, application configurations and of environment are captured accurately. Additionally, CAP should be implemented by first taking a system-wide backup. This creates a 'base image' or starting point which serves as a first point-in-time stateful image of an environment. Then, on a continuous basis, additional incremental images are taken of only the changes since the last image. Since only the changes are being captured, the amount of data is significantly smaller than the original base image.
