ABSTRACT:
A blueprint for a converged Ethernet fabric has been defined. It addresses shortcomings surrounding traffic isolation, Fibre Channel investment protection, and data center operations in previous unified wire efforts. It will enable network consolidation solutions that will transform the data center and address data center IT managers' requirements for increased consolidation, cost-efficiency and flexibility while at the same time supporting their rapidly growing SAN deployments to support server virtualization and blade server initiatives. Network consolidation using converged Ethernet fabrics will support broader power-saving initiatives. With this blueprint for a converged Ethernet fabric in hand, Emulex is working with its partners to deliver compelling network consolidation solutions.
