ABSTRACT:
Data is no longer stored in a single copy. Communications and collaboration applications are creating multiple copies of the same data, further exacerbating the problem. Storage technologies such as replication, snapshot, and file optimization are being sought to address the problem. Organizations with lots of data should definitely explore these technologies because they may reduce the data's footprint either in secondary file repositories or in the backup and restore systems.
