ABSTRACT:
Adaptive Network Architecture embodies the design principles of:

1 - Simplification - The traditional network model is a legacy of the pre-Internet world: the approach of patching the legacy system increases complexity (and risk) at an exponential rate.

2 - Modularity - Monolithic enterprise structures preclude rapid change.

3 - Integration - All compartments within the system are managed in an integrated, consistent way across the entire network.

This paper provides a detailed description of the ANA topology and offers the following three usage scenarios to show how companies with a variety of network requirements can achieve improved network responsiveness to changing business needs:

  • Scenario 1: Extranet access management
  • Scenario 2: IP telephony
  • Scenario 3: Network consolidation
