ABSTRACT:
Botniabanan AB required a state-of-the-art communications solution for Sweden's new high-speed line, a 190 km track designed for trains traveling at up to 250 km per hour. The company asked Alcatel-Lucent to build a reliable and secure integrated radio communications solution for the tunnels along the line, which will be the fi rst in Sweden equipped with the new pan-European traffic management system.
Alcatel-Lucent is responsible for the design and deployment over a three-year period of a fully integrated, state-of-the-art tunnel radio communications solution for the Bothnia line's 13 tunnels. The tunnel radio system is designed to:
- Provide GSM-R communication in the tunnels.
- Enable communications at 400 MHz for radio contact with and between first responders, in the event of an accident in the tunnel.
- Transmit the data signal for train control purposes (ERTMS).
For this project, Alcatel-Lucent services include the design, deployment, integration, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning of the tunnel radio system.
